Preparation as the key to success
The uniformity of the individual modules was particularly important to Apleona. "All of these issues belong together; this meant that the entire training programme had to appear to be an integrated piece," explains Simon Bihler, the responsible project manager and safety engineer in Apleona’s HSEQ department. This was a major challenge, because the content of some modules was designed by DEKRA Media, while others were designed by Apleona. Good preparation and the development of standardised processes were, therefore, crucial. "So as to be able to implement the production in the most straightforward way possible, we first created templates and sample slides – in line with Apleona's corporate design, of course – which our editorial team and the respective departments at Apleona then used as a guide," is how Wolfgang Reichelt, Managing Director of DEKRA Media, explains the procedure. The effort in advance paid off. It not only resulted in a visually uniform product, but also streamlined the production process, so that DEKRA Media was able to deliver a finished module every week in the final phase.
Not the first collaboration...
The online training programme was not the first project that resulted from the cooperation between the two companies. “We collaborated with DEKRA Media previously in 2019 as part of our annual safety campaign. At that time, the topic was 'working in containers and confined spaces'. Even then, we were impressed at how professionally and quickly DEKRA Media created a presentation that was appealing in terms of content, appearance and media didactics,” remembers Bihler. While this project still involved face-to-face training, a virtual format now needed to be created. The volume also increased: more than 190 minutes’ runtime of web-based training material were created in total. "The collaboration with DEKRA Media in this project was, again, extremely constructive and pleasant," emphasises Bihler. "Our contact persons guided all of our departments and people who were involved throughout the process with an equal degree of success and were always available for adjustments at short notice and technical troubleshooting."

... and not the last one, either
The web-based training materials have been used for management training since October. The feedback from operational practice has been consistently positive. Thanks to the renewed successful collaboration, DEKRA Media will once again support Apleona in 2022 in its annual safety campaign. This time, a hybrid training course on the subject of cut injuries is planned, as it is a format that can be used both digitally and for face-to-face sessions.
